Assistant Manager

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Along with the Store Manager, responsible for meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Along with the Store Manager, lead, train, and manage sales associates.
  • Acts as Store Manager when he/she is absent.
  • Ensure compliance to policies and procedures and report concerns to Store Manager.
  • Provide outstanding customer service in a friendly, courteous manner.
  • Assesses customer needs and provide expert advice about available products, upsell as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate features and benefits of any product, which may complement the sale.
  • Merchandise and maintain the store to Greenhawk standards i.e. displays, presentations, labels, signage, and ordering needs.
  • Ensure the store remains clean and presentable at all times.
  • Work flexible hours including days, evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to occasionally commit to extended hours and necessary travel to accommodate special sales and events (beyond 40 hr/week).
  • Assist Store Manager in pick, pack, ship operations for Greenhawk.com US website.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of the horse industry and pet industry is a MUST to be considered for this position.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • Ability to meet the demands and responsibilities involved in the management of a flagship store.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as proven team membership skills.
  • Mature attitude and a strong work ethic are essentials.
  • Good decision-making abilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs for restocking and merchandising the store as necessary.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for long hours.

  • Provide customer feedback to the Store Manager.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in the horse industry is required to be considered for this position.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as proven team membership skills.
  • Mature attitude and a strong work ethic are essentials.
  • Good decision-making abilities and problem-solving skills.
